It is the 6th Anniversary of Final Fantasy XI. From May 16-28 there will be a special moogle in each of the starter cities who will give you a run down on your adventuring history and offer you a gift. You only get one gift and good things come to those who wait. Don't wait too long though or you'll miss out.
Probably the most notable part of this period is the Anniversary Ring. 100% Exp Bonus for 720 min or 3000 Exp which ever comes first. 10 uses the entire year with a 1 hour re-use time. You can only have one though so if you have a used up one from last year, throw it away and get a new one. Be careful though, you only get one a year so don't throw away your new one hoping to get another.
